About PT-141

PT-141 (bremelanotide) is a cyclic melanocortin agonist approved by the FDA in 2019 as Vyleesi, an on-demand injection for low sexual desire in premenopausal women. It works in the brain rather than on blood flow. In two phase 3 trials, it modestly improved desire and reduced distress compared with placebo.

PT-141 calculator questions

How much bacteriostatic water do I add to a 10 mg PT-141 vial?

The calculator does not prescribe a volume; the right choice depends on how large you want each draw to be. As arithmetic: 10 mg in 2 mL gives 5 mg/mL, so each unit on a U-100 syringe holds 50 mcg. Use the “Water to add” tab to work backwards from a draw size.

What concentration does PT-141 have after reconstitution?

Concentration is the vial mass divided by the water volume. For example, 10 mg in 2 mL is 5 mg/mL. Check the certificate of analysis for net peptide content, which is usually lower than the label.
